Cheers to surviving the day!

To all the single parents who manage to maintain a healthy, happy, thriving child while also keeping their sanity intact- bravo. And I mean that in the most heartfelt, sincere way.

Landon teaches at Neenah High School's downtown campus, which is an alternative school that, in addition to the traditional school day, also offers night classes.

And I'm seriously sitting here whining about the fact that on very long Tuesdays and Thursdays, the other half of my parenting team is at school 7am to 8pm dedicating time away from his family to help teens complete their high school education, in order to rise above their circumstances, and better their lives. The guy amazes me.

And here I sit, frazzled and tearful, because the day was rotten, the toddler was insane, the baby was fussy, and both kids were still awake 45 minutes after bedtime. And it's only the first day of the school year.

Where was I going with this...?

Oh, yes.

Single parents- hats off to you. I have a very stable marriage to a very hands-on-dad type guy, and I've barely made it through one 14.5 hour day of doing it on my own. This school year, for me, is going to be about staying alive, finding my strength, and figuring it out.

Now... Where did that corkscrew go?
